Mr. Willie Ray Davis, was the son of the late Cleta Hines born March 18, 1952, in Harnett County, NC. Mr. Davis passed away quietly at his home in Selma, NC on Friday April 19, 2024, following a brief illness. Willie graduated from Smithfield-Selma Sr. High School with the "Class of 1972". Following high school, he attended Johnston Technical College and began his work career with Jesse Jones later to be named Goodmark Foods for 21 years and retired. He loved basketball and football. Mr. Davis is survived by two sisters: Mamie Stewart, Dorothy D. Boylan, a number of nephews, nieces, cousins and other friends. Mr. Wilbert Aaron "Skip" Lassiter Jr. passed away quietly on Friday April 12, 2024, at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC. Skip was the son of Wilbert and Vernelle Lassiter born June 13, 1943, in Raleigh, NC. He attended Wake County Public Schools. Following his education in Wake County he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served honorably. After his military service he worked for Wimberley Electric Company. Skip leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 31 years Christina Lassiter, Four children: Hope Marie Lassiter, Juan Valdez Lassiter, Tiffini Vernelle Poole, Wilbert Aaron Lassiter III, one sister: Nurry Ann Johnson and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Lois Davis was born March 16, 1948 to Prince and Annie Mae Davis in Bennettsville, South Carolina. She departed this life Thursday April 11, 2024 in Smithfield, North Carolina. Lois attended Eastside High School in Marlboro County. In 1964 at the age of 16 Lois move to Brooklyn, New York. She lived in New York approximately 8 years, working at Banner MS for 3 of those 8 years. Lois moved to North Carolina in 1972. She was employed at Flanders Manufacturing in Smithfield, North Carolina. In her later years she was employed at Cutler Laboratories in Clayton, North Carolina. Lois obeyed the gospel in March 1982 at Selma church of Christ. She enjoyed visiting the sick and fellowship telephonically. She enjoyed walking on the treadmill, shopping, and cooking. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13. Lois was united in marriage to (the love of her life) Maso Sapp May 27, 1995. She resided with him in Smithfield North Carolina until her death. Lois will be cherished by those she leaves behind, her husband Maso Sapp of the home, two grandchildren Lawrence D. Wright and Latoria Wright, six stepchildren, three sisters, Daisy Mae Fellows of Four Oaks, North Carolina, Patricia Ann Baker of Garner, North Carolina, Prince Anne Wright of Raleigh, North Carolina (Leroy), and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. James Edward McClamb was born on October 9, 1945, in Smithfield, NC and departed this life on April 9, 202 4. James had loving and fun nicknames given to him by his family and friends. He was called: “J Mack”, “High Pants”, and “Stretch”. He was the son of the late James Arthur (Bud) McClamb and the late Nellie McCoy McClamb. He began his education at the former Short Journey School and graduated from Johnson County Training School in Smithfield, NC. He was called to serve his country during the Vietnam War on April 8, 1966. He received the “Bronze Service Star” for his outstanding service and was honorably discharged on April 7, 1972. J Mack's civilian career spanned over 30 years at Burlington Mills Industries where he was a supervisor. James was committed to his community and started the Creek City Cobra Motorcycle Club of Four Oaks, NC in 1979 where he served as President of the organization. He was preceded in death by his parents James Arthur McClamb and Nelie McClamb and his siblings: Portia, Wilbert, Evelyn, Betty Jean, Thelma, Mary and Lois Ann. James leaves to cherish his memory, his son Maurice McClamb of Statesville, NC and his daughter Treva McClamb (caretaker) of Smithfield, NC. His grandchildren: Ashley, Tavian, Maurissa, Trenise, Alexus, Trinity, TaNiya. Mr. Octavius "Trell" Avery, age 36 passed away quietly following a brief illness on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at UNC Health Johnston in Smithfield, NC . Trell was born June 18, 1987 and was the son of Regina Avery. Trell was a 2005 graduate of Smithfield-Selma Sr. High school in Smithfield. Trell was known to be an avid UNC Tar Heel fan. He was a loving father, son, brother, and provider. To know him was to love him. Trell is survived by his son; Kobe Bernard Avery, mother; Regina Avery, sister; Jaquette Caca "KiKi", grandmother; Earlene Belle, significant other; Ashley Gibbons, bonus daughter; Lexie Frame, and a host of other relatives and friends. She constantly hugged and kissed Gaby telling her that she loved her and “You call Grandma if you need me.” I loved Lois.
