They Left Us Too Soon...
Pastor Alice Howard Wells, a daughter given by the Lord to the late Rev. Redmond Johnson and Martha Lee Barrett was born in Greenville, NC, June 7, 1945. She departed this life peacefully on May 13, 2024. Today we rejoice knowing a Great Prophet of God has completed her kingdom building journey and is forever at home with the Savior whom she faithfully served all her life. Growing up in Pitt County, “Alice Lee” as they so dearly called her, was reared in the church which seeded her calling. As an adult she gave her life over to the Lord in full time ministry of 50 years. Pastor, answered God’s calling when she began an outreach ministries opening the doors to her dedication the Powertime Outreach Ministries Church, providing strong evangelism, street ministries, community food, clothing, shelter and youth events. Entrepreneur of many talents, she hand made jewelry, crafts, clothing, and her cleaning service all of which she ministered the word of God! Any environment she was present in, she actively provided kingdom building for Christ and manifested all to his Glory. Pastor Alice was preceded in death by her husband James Wells and 10 siblings. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, two daughters: Crystal Howard-Talmadge of Wilson, NC, and Candria Williams of Smithfield, NC, three sons: Edwin Howard of Philadelphia, PA, Reginald Howard of Smithfield, NC, and Darrien Howard Sr. (Lianny) of Smithfield, NC, 23 grand children, 30 great grands, and 1 great great grandchild, PTO family, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ricky D. Sanders, aged 65, passed away on May 4, 2024, at UNC Lenoir Health in Kinston, NC. Originally from Smithfield, NC, Mr. Sanders leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He was born on March 29, 1959, to Weston Willis Sanders Jr and Betsy Barfield Sanders both deceased. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Renetha Sanders. Ricky is survived by his three children: Dr. Tamara T. Waraschinski, Ricky D. Sanders Jr., and Paris Omarion Marshall. He also leaves behind his wife, Barbara Sanders, and stepchildren: Jada Branch and Domonique Branch, siblings: Michael A. Sanders (Monica) and Vickie D. Mrs. Andrea Anntoinette Cooper-Radden "Anne" passed away quietly on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, while a resident at Barbour Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Smithfield, NC. Anne was the daughter of the late Thomas and Beatrice Cooper, and was born March 11, 1946, in Harlem, NY. Anne was preceded in death by both her parents, Thomas and Beatrice Cooper, three siblings: Wanda, Kathy and John. She leaves to cherish her memory; two children: David Radden (LeCheryl), Amber Radden, three grandchildren: Carmen Forte, Jonathan, and Olivia, three sisters: Brenda Turner (James), Toma Locker (James Pope), and Rita Williams (Charles), and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and a dear friend Margaret Wallace, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Rose Marie Hunter, 83 of Pine Level, NC transitioned surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday April 30, 2024. Rose Marie was the daughter of the late Herman and Margaret King born in Jersey City, New Jersey October 14, 1940. Rose Marie always had a passion to care for others and served the community as a crossing guard for schools in the Jersey City area. She also, volunteered at the Jersey City Medical Center. In 2017 she moved to N.C. to be close to family. She was preceded in death by her parents; Herman and Margaret King, four brothers: Robert King, Thomas King, Richard King, Joseph King and her lifelong companion Freddie L. Jones. Mr. Willie Ray Davis, was the son of the late Cleta Hines born March 18, 1952, in Harnett County, NC. Mr. Davis passed away quietly at his home in Selma, NC on Friday April 19, 2024, following a brief illness. Willie graduated from Smithfield-Selma Sr. High School with the "Class of 1972". Following high school, he attended Johnston Technical College and began his work career with Jesse Jones later to be named Goodmark Foods for 21 years and retired. He loved basketball and football. Mr. Davis is survived by two sisters: Mamie Stewart, Dorothy D. Boylan, a number of nephews, nieces, cousins and other friends.
