Message: “Quick” and I were both field artillery officers and roommates at Officer Basics in Fort Sill. Afterward, we were assigned to Fort Jackson where he and I shared a house with another officer. We later had to get an apartment which we shared with another SC State graduate, John Brown. Shortly after John was drafted into the army, George, and I both got orders for Vietnam all within two weeks. All three of us ended up in Vietnam together. We have always stayed connected over the years. Quick was instrumental in helping me maneuver within First Union to get a construction loan for my church. We shared Christmas cards every year with his family. He was a dear friend and fraternity brother who will be missed. Thanks for the memories. Condolences and God’s peace to Gloria and the Quick Family.

Message: Remembering George Kenneth Quick…

When Gloria called to let me know that George had passed, I was saddened. It took me a while to process that my good friend had transitioned.

We all have a beginning and an end for our time on earth. George filled his time in between those dates with a life worth remembering. I will remember George as a man of God, intelligent, trustworthy, respectful, loving, friendly, honest, caring, jovial, and most of all a true SERVANT.

Losing a loved one is difficult, and God knows that. George had been in God’s care his whole life. He had blessed him with a devoted wife, a loving family, a wide circle of friends, and a stellar career. God was very much aware of what George was going through. So, God in His infinite wisdom made the sovereign decision on Thursday, February 1, 2024, to dispatch His angels to carry George to his heavenly home.

May God’s love and care provide peace and comfort during the days and years to come for George’s family and friends. Earth has no sorry that God cannot heal.

So, as we continue our earthly journey without George, on God we must depend… till we meet again, we say, “So Long…this is not the end.”

With love, friendship, and prayers,
Barbara W. Wilson
