Ms. Barbara Elizabeth Smith Sanders

Barbara E. Smith Sanders passed away peacefully at her residence in Smithfield, NC Tuesday July 7, 2026. Barbara Elizabeth Smith was born on March 2, 1947, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to Sylena and Joseph Smith Sr.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Sylena Smith, who passed away on June 19, 1992, and Joseph Smith Sr., who passed away on October 22, 1968; and by her brother, Joseph Smith Jr., who passed away on November 17, 2022.

Barbara leaves cherished memories with her nieces and nephews; Katrina Sanders; Dewayne Smith (Jessica); Rochelle Johnson, Detrich Smith, Rickey Smith, Delores Smith, and LeAsia Smith, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Arrangements:

The Family will receive guest at the home of Ms. Barbara E Sanders 818 S. Sixth St., Smithfield, NC 27577 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday July 8, 2026– Friday July 11, 2026.

Viewing: Friday July 10, 2026, at the Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremations Chapel 302 S. Bright Leaf Blvd., Smithfield, NC from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

Funeral Service: 1:30 pm Saturday July 11, 2026, at St. Peter Disciple of Christ Church 1011 Massey St., Smithfield, NC. Viewing 1:00 pm until 1:30 pm.
