Mrs. Diana Joyner Hill
Diana was born to the late Walta Mae Smith (married to Robert Smith) and the late John Simms, Sr., on June 12, 1952, in Kenly, N.C. Diana moved from N.C., at the age of 10, to the city of Washington, D.C. She attended Buchannan Elementary, Hines Middle, and Eastern High School. She was in middle school when she first met her sweetheart and best friend -Ronald Hill. They married on September 8, 1970, and lived up to their vows, “till death do us part”. It was a matrimony of fifty years! They had three children -Vivian Hill-Lawson, Ronald Hill, and LaRhonda Hill.
Diana started her career in D.C. as a Telephone Operator. She then held positions in D.C. government as a DMV License Examiner, Ticket Writer, and a Metro Transit Bus Driver. Diana later worked as a Manager at National Nurses, Inc. Diana worked twenty plus years at AMN, Inc., until her homegoing, and received numerous awards, gifts, and accolades for her exemplified excellence and preeminent achievements.
Diana dearly and unconditionally loved her family. She is survived by her siblings; Pastor Douglas Joyner, James P. Simms, Ina Faye Joyner, Denise Jones, Edwana Simms-Bostic, Nancy Pearl Walker, she was preceded in death by Michelle Simms, and John Simms, Jr. She had eight grandchildren -Tiana Hill, Ivai Hill, Makeda Hill, Tiara Hill, Briana Hill, Jasmine Lawson, Karon Hill, Miles Usher, and one great-grandson, Christopher Thomas, Jr. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law -Talisa Hill, son-in-law -Mark Lawson, one uncle -Albert Coachman, seven sisters-in-laws, three brothers-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Diana Joyner Hill are scheduled for Saturday May 15, 2021 11:00 am at Forbes L N Original FWB Tabernacle 1800 Land St. SE Wilson, NC. Viewing and visitation will start at 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Live streaming will be on our Facebook page, Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremation Services beginning at 10:55 am. Facial coverings and social distancing are required at the building.
