Mr. Offie Lynn " Link" Dublin

Mr. Offie Lynn “Link" Dublin passed away on Saturday May 15, 2021 at Smithfield Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Smithfield. 

Offie Lynn Dublin, affectionately known as “June Bug” to some and “Link” to many others, was the son of Ozella Dublin Lassiter and stepson of Walter Lassiter. He was born on September 15, 1932 in Smithfield, North Carolina. 

Offie was married to the late Irene Davis Dublin.  

Link received his education at the Johnston County Training School until he was drafted into the United States Army. He served his country with unwavering devotion during the Korean War. When his service was complete, Offie returned home with an honorable discharge and numerous decorations and commendations – National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Korean Service Medal. Most recently he was presented with the Ambassador for Peace medal from the Patriots and Veterans Affairs Republic of Korea.

Upon his return to Smithfield, Offie continued what would become his more than 70-year career in the Tobacco Industry. 
Offie accepted Christ at an early age. He served with undying devotion in various capacities at Green Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He served as a Trustee and an Usher at the church. In addition to his service at Green Chapel, Offie was a member of the local Johnston District Association of Ushers, the Smithfield Progressive Men's Club and American Legion Post 270.

In addition to his wife Irene, “Link” was predeceased by a brother Tom Lassiter, sisters Eula Mae Lassiter and Mary Sanders and one niece, Lillie Whitfield.

Offie leaves to cherish his memory a step-son Michael Davis, step-daughter Iwanda Davis and two step-grandsons, Dennis Davis & Samuel Davis, a great-niece, Angela Lester of Clarksville, TN; three great-nephews, Floyd Moore of Raleigh, NC, Keith (Paulette) Moore, Sr. of Garner, NC and Durwood (Lisa) Moore, Sr. of Cedar Park, TX and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.

Viewing/Visitation on Wednesday May 19, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremations Chapel 302 S. Bright Leaf Blvd., Smithfield, NC.
Funeral services will be Thursday May 20, 2021 on the Green Chapel Missionary Baptist Church grounds starting at 11:30 am.
Interment at Eastern Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery Goldsboro, NC.
In lieu of flowers please make a monetary donation to Green Chapel Missionary Baptist Church 2861 Brogden Rd Smithfield, NC 27577 in the name of Mr. Offie L. Dublin.
