Richard William Palmer was born June 28, 1955 to James and Lorraine Palmer in Miami, FL. He moved with his mother and two siblings, Skip and Sandi, to Edwardsville, IL at the age of 6 and spent most of his childhood in Highland IL.
He served in the Army since the age of 17 for 3 years Until 11/1975 when he was honorably discharged.

He married Lynell in 1978 and two beautiful daughters Lynaya and Ellonna were born. For most of his life he worked as a senior HVAC technician. Through the years, he moved and lived in New Orleans, Memphis, and Houston, and Smithfield, NC working for the companies Bolton, Johnson Controls, Mcquay, and Daikin.

In 2003 Richard went to Lithuania and in 2004 he married Vilma and they both moved to New Orleans with his two step-children Emily and Paul. After hurricane Katrina in 2005 the whole family relocated to Smithfield, NC. Richard was always a great father and provider and he continued being one for his new family.

During the last 7 years Richard battled through stage 4 cancer twice and went through radiation and major surgery in 2015. Against all odds, he beat cancer and recovered faster than expected. His enormous strength and dedication was really shown when he chose to go back to his laborious job later that same year. Richard was a man who took great pride in his work and he continued working until May 15th, 2019 when he passed away in his home.

Memorial Services will be held Tuesday May 28, 2019 at The Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel. Services will began at 6:00pm

Message: Although I have not known Richard very long, I have had the pleasure of working with Richard for the past seven years. Richard was an individual that could walk into our Daikin office and bring laughter to all before leaving. Richard was a resource to our technicians due to his wealth of knowledge in our HVAC business. Richard amazed me each day with his strength and willingness to beat his battle with cancer. Richard will be greatly missed within our Daikin family and our Raleigh District. We are all very thankful that Richard allowed us to be a part of his life's journey.
