Mrs. Willena Mitchener Campbell, age 92 was born February 22, 1927 in Johnston County, NC., her parents were the late John W. Mitchener and the late Gussie Mayo Sanders Mitchener. Mrs. Campbell transitioned quietly on Friday May 31, 2019 at Liberty Commons of Benson.

She is a graduate of Johnston County Training School and in 1953 earned a BS Degree in English & History, followed by a Master’s Degree in Education from A&T University in Greensboro in 1959. Mrs. Campbell was a teacher in the Johnston County School System for 32 years where she served on the Assistant Team as a Coordinator with making decisions in the education of Special Needs Students.

Mrs. Campbell joined Galilee Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully in different Ministries until she experienced declining health.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Willena Campbell are scheduled for Saturday June 8, 2019 at Galilee Baptist Church 2017 Galilee Rd Smithfield, NC, viewing period will begin at 10:30am followed by funeral services at 11:00am.There will be a walk thru viewing on Friday June 7th at the Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel from 4:00pm until 7:00pm.
