Mrs. Irene (T) Chance Burgess
Mrs. Irene (T) Chance Burgess, age 91 of Smithfield, NC passed away peacefully at UNC- Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC on Thursday November 11, 2021. Mrs. Burgess was the daughter of the late Mr. Theodore Alston and Floree Carroll Simpson. She was reared by Mr. Richard and Mrs. Frances Turner.
She was predeceased by a daughter Frances Anne Joyner May, sons; William Thomas (Labo) Joyner, and Benjamin Joyner.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by husband, Reverend Joshua Burgess, two sons, Donald Ray Joyner (Cecilia); Gerald Joyner (Wynee); two daughters, Shelvia Joyner Davis (Walter); Shelia Joyner Morton, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing:
Mrs. Irene Burgess will be held Thursday November 18, 2021 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel 302 S. Bright Leaf Blvd., Smithfield, NC. Facial coverings are required.
Funeral Services:
Friday November 19, 2021 at Interstate Ministries 4584 US-70 west Clayton, NC viewing from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, with the Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 am. Facial coverings are required.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Community & Senior Services of Johnston County, Inc. (Meals Program) in memory of Irene Chance Burgess at 1363 W. Market Street, Smithfield, N.C. 27577, (919) 934-6066.
