Mrs. Joyce Watson
Joyce Watson was born July 4, 1943, to the union of Lawrence and Flora Williams. The family included her two brothers, Willie Sanders and Lawrence (Velt) Williams. Joyce was raised in Smithfield, NC, located in Johnston County. Joyce departed this world on May 27, 2025.
She graduated from Johnston County Training School in 1963. Joyce was active in Girl Scouts and participated in many extracurricular activities. Joyce attended Winston-Salem State College. She graduated from Federal City College, Washington, DC with a bachelor's degree in social work. Joyce was employed by the Johnston County Agriculture Agency briefly before deciding to relocate to Washington, DC, in a search of a more stable and rewarding career.
In 1967, Joyce married Edwin Watson two daughters, Evelyn and Shani Watson were born to this union. After a series of transitional jobs, Joyce was employed by the Federal Government. Specifically, she worked for the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. This was an agency of the Department of Labor. During Joyce's years of employment, she earned many citations and promotions for her excellent work and dedication to the agency. Joyce served as a legal clerk for30 years. She happily retired in 2004.
Arrangements:
Viewing/Visitation: Saturday June 7, 2025, from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel 302 S. Bright Leaf Blvd., Smithfield, NC 27577, immediately followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery Hwy 210 and 70 west Smithfield, NC.
