Mrs. Yvonne L. Nixon
Mrs. Yvonne L. “Ommie” Nixon, of Smithfield transitioned on Saturday December 17, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Nixon was born Yvonne Lewis September 23, 1940 and was the daughter of Moses and Leanna Lewis.
Yvonne attended and graduated from Johnston County Training School (J.C.T.S.) in 1959. Her hobbies included crocheting, canning, making jellies and preserves, cooking and listening to “Spiritual music”.
Yvonne was often referred to as “Mama” to many and loved her family members dearly. She worked for a number of years at C&K Components and subsequently retired in the early 2000’s.
She is married to Donnie Nixon Jr. and has been for 63 years and to this union she leaves to cherish her memories two sons; Donnie Nixon III (Melissa), Tim Nixon (Amanda), one daughter, Yvette Nixon, six grandchildren; Timaiya (Nick), N’namdi (Rita), Dariel, Devon, Adalyn, Caroline, two great-grandchildren; Ivy, Nick, three siblings sister; Phebia McIver, two brothers-n-love Frank Nixon, Keith Nixon (Valisia) and many other relatives and friends.
Walk-Thru viewing: Thursday December 22, 2022 at the Walter Sanders Funeral from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm
Graveside Services: Friday December 23, 2022 at Selma Memorial Gardens Selma, NC at 12:00 noon. Services will stream live on our Facebook page starting at 11:55 am. Seating will be limited so please bring your lawn chairs.
