Message: TO THE ENTIRE FOSTER FAMILY OCTOBER 10, 2025
Dear Mrs. Joanne Judkins Foster Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Joanne Foster on October 8, 2025 in Smithfield, NC. She lived a remarkable 93 years, dedicating so much of her life to the community and serving as Secretary of the Johnston County Branch of the NAACP for nearly the entire time I had the privilege of serving as Branch President. Mrs. Foster’s unwavering commitment to justice and equality was evident in her decades of service as secretary under three presidents of the Johnson County Branch. Her steadfast commitment, dedication, and spirit have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Branch.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. May you find comfort in the cherished memories of her life, her tireless service, and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her. Her election as "Mother of the Year" by the Branch was a testament not only to her leadership but to the love, wisdom, and nurturing spirit she shared with all who knew her. Her legacy of devotion, kindness, and courage will continue to inspire us all.
Remember these words from Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
You are in my thoughts and prayers. May peace and strength carry you through the days ahead.
With deepest sympathy,
Councilman Dr. Gettys Cohen, Jr. and Mrs. Shirley O. Cohen and Family
